Lund Floating Shelf
Lund Floating Shelf
Most floating shelves are three-quarters of an inch thick. This one is not.
The Lund is built from solid American walnut — a thick, substantial slab that carries real visual weight on the wall and holds it without apology. Run your hand along the front edge and you feel the radius we cut there, hand-shaped on the router table and sanded through 220 grit until it feels right. It is the kind of detail that photographs well and feels better in person.
The bracket is the part that makes the Lund different from every other floating shelf on the market. It is not a metal L-bracket hidden behind the wood. It is not an afterthought bolted to the underside. It is the same walnut as the top, shaped from the same board, finished the same way — a solid corbel profile that steps cleanly from the wall and carries the shelf from below. From the front, the shelf floats. From the side, the bracket tells you exactly how.
Installation uses two key-hole slots, with two screws. All hardware is included. Spaced exactly 16in apart to go directly into studs, the shelf drops onto it, and from the front there is nothing to see but walnut. The whole process takes fifteen minutes with a drill and a level.
We make the Lund in four lengths — 24, 30, 36, and 48 inches — all at the same depth and the same profile. Buy two at different lengths and stage them at different heights. The geometry relates between sizes because it is the same geometry, just scaled. That is what makes a pair of Lund shelves look intentional rather than assembled from whatever was available.
Finished with hard wax oil, buffed between each. The result is a low-sheen surface that feels like wood because it is wood. No lacquer sitting on top. No plastic sheen. Just grain you can actually touch.
